DuPre House retains much of the splendor of the 18th Century.
Its unique architectural style is seldom found outside of New England.
One of its most famous owners was Paul Trapier, known as the King
of Georgetown. The house has undergone several name changes
and alterations over the years. The local historical society refers
to the property as the John Arthur House named after its first owner.
The current name is derived from Mary Magdalen DuPre, a French Huguenot
whose daughter Susannah purchased the house from Trapier in 1753.
The present owners are members of the National Trust for Historic
Preservation and are committed to preserving the heritage of this
historic dwelling for future generations to admire. Antiques and
artwork from the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries adorn the interior.
